 Items of infrastructure.

It is possible to find evidence of the airfields 'DREM'  lighting system, these can be found at the runway thresholds and alongside the perimeter tracks . Many of the drainage and cable duct inspection covers are in place and can be seen.

The images above are perimeter track C2 units. These contained coloured glass filters showng amber or blue directional lights for aircraft using the perimeter track to and from the runways. Usually sited every 200 yards or so around the entire taxyway.

Wire picket posts. Screwed into the ground at close intervals and strung with barbed wire to make a perimeter fence. These have been bulldozed into hedgelines when the airfield was cleared after the war.

These have been identified as demolition pots. They were once packed with explosives and buried next to the bulk aviation fuel store and would have been detonated to deny use of fuel to the enemy if the airfield was captured.

There were two such masts outside of building 125 in Black hut Wood. The building no longer exist other than a heap of rubble.

Below are some of the assorted drains found alongside the runway and perimeter tracks on the site. Most still carry away surface water after all this time!
